The eight member Elizabeth Fry Societies in Ontario are: Hamilton, Kingston, Ottawa, Peel and Halton (located in Brampton), Simcoe County (located in Barrie), Sudbury, Toronto, and the Region of Waterloo (located in Kitchener). Societies provide a spectrum of programs and services designed to meet the unique needs of women. Professional staff and volunteers, governed by volunteer community boards, provide services that include counseling, programming, financial assistance, accommodation, court assistance, and emotional support, from the time a woman is arrested through to discharge from prison and return to the community.
